I have worked with wood most of my working years. My experience began as a teenager cleaning worksites for a builder. Years later I worked up from building houses to specializing as a trim carpenter for 8 years, working mostly in large upscale homes in Memphis. After the recession, I received an opportunity to work in a custom furniture shop under 3 master craftsmen in Memphis, Tennessee. One of whom started his apprenticeship in Europe at the age of 14 in a windmill driven shop and had been working with wood for over 50 years when I met him. His son was my age and he was well beyond his years in his abilities! The owner of the shop is a third generation woodworker with over 40 years experience in his craft. He trained at Sotheby’s and was a member of The American Institute of Conservators. Upon moving to the Sacramento area, I worked under another master craftsman that taught me the art of touching-up damaged finished surfaces.
I am pursuing my passion of working on furniture by running my own business. I hope to help people preserve the timeless furniture pieces they have acquired, and to make damaged modern furniture pieces look new again.
